The Best Drone of 2019

Welcome to my 1st blog! I’ve recently been searching for the perfect drone to put in my backpack to get amazing footage while filming. Quick background Information: I film videos with a gh5 4k Camera and a Sigma Art 18-35 lens. I shoot weddings, music videos, commercials, and any other video you can probably think of. So, I needed a drone that looked professional but didn’t kill my pockets.

The first drone I purchased was the DJI Spark. I watched youtube videos about it and for $350 I had to give it a try. I took it out and flew the drone for about 5 minutes. The video quality looked amazing......... on my phone. Once I pulled it into Final Cut Pro on my 2019 MacBook Pro, the quality fell apart. The image was blocky and didn’t look anywhere near the look of my cinema camera. So, I went back to Best Buy and exchanged it for the DJI Mavic Air.

This drone is amazing! It’s small, fold up even smaller in my backpack, and the quality is CRISPY! This drone is easy to fly and has a lot of solo flight options. With the push of a button, this drone can follow you in a mode called “tracking”. This drone is is also durable (yes I’ve crashed it into a wall already And it still works!). For $700 or $1,000 for the kit that includes 3 batteries, a carrying case, and charging huv, it’s worth every penny. The footage matches my cinema camera effortlessly.

In conclusion, if you want a small drone, that won’t attract a lot of attention, get the Mavic Air. The new Mavic Pro 2 is a bigger drone that I wouldn’t want to carry around with me all day. The Air’s quality is super close in comparison, and for a filmmaker, it’s a great choice. If you’ve made it this far, I truly appreciate you for taking the time to read my thoughts and opinions. I hope you enjoyed this blog and I will have more coming soon! Peace!
